We went to a nice Japanese restaurant, had ordered some nice bacon sushi and some tasty fish soup, and then before we could start eating them the staff came in with a cake! we all sang happy birthday, (chinese and English) and then ate the cake first, followed by the main course, typical chinese! everything comes at any random time!
Jenny had kindly bought an expensive bottle of wine so we all enjoyed that, some beers, and then some baijiu, Eamon and Elaine did most of the drinking together and before long were nicely drunk with chris and I doing ok and holding our end up well!
After we had eaten they gave chris his gift, (a very shiny new mobile phone from all of them, since his was rubbish!) and then they started to drift off until chris and I were left with the drunk two. They decided on KTV just around the corner and dragged chris and I along, by this time it was 11.30 already and we didn't see any students on the way, once there chris started off with a few songs, much to everyones surprise, including his own I think! and did a good job, then it was a free for all or michael jackson, linkin park, chinese songs and western songs sung with varying success!
I had the lyrics to a chinese song i like on my phone so chris and I read the pinyin version and sung that whilst everyone else used the onscreen chinese characters! good fun!
We got back pretty late and stumbled into bed, a good birthday all round, unfortunately Chris didn't know about his surprise party and so missed an appointment to call home, a real shame and it put a bit of a damper on the end of the evening, even trying to call when we got back predictably caused the internet to die and not come back until morning. A bit of a downer but overall it was very fun, and a nice chance to see all our old friends again! Don't worry, pictures to come!!
