Burger!

An epic burger and a full Chris!

Day in shanghai

After not much sleep we made it to the hostel and got our room but since it was 11.30am we couldn't sleep and decided to try for the full day awake!
We checked in and got settled and then wandered out and ended up in an electronics shopping mall, one thing led to another and I got the lens I was looking for, for my camera, new in box for 70gbp, not bad, add a UV filter and a few bits and it came to 80, not bad at all!
After this we went back to drop off and Chris lay down and promptly fell asleep, I waited a bit and then slept for an hour too in the heat of the afternoon, 35degrees!

In the evening we headed to our favourite xiaolongbao shop only to find it had closed!! So sad but luckily nearby was a burger place where we had an amazingly tasty burger and chips for 3gbp, and the manager gave us a free pudding since it was our first time.

Back to the hostel and I grabbed a shower and chatted with some people in the bar whilst Chris read upstairs and a confused 1am bed, train booked for lingxi tomorrow!

you know you are in china when...

We wondered how long before one of those 'only in china' moments, a couple of hours in walking along the metro station we see a 14 year old child urinating into a bin... Only in china!

Landed!

Chris and I landed safely back in shanghai, a good flight and managed to sleep a bit at least! And some new movies to watch!
More as it happens, once more into the breach!

A day out in London and our visa application

So Friday the 20th proved to be quite a lucky day, although it started out in a bit of a weird way.

Nathan and I had an early rise in the morning to get to the park and ride at Thornhill. With an hour in to London by Bus we arrived in Marble
arch and headed to the visa office in the rain ... but we had a few hurdles to face, some of the Visa demands have changed including medical insurance
return flight details and where we are staying in China. So after rushing about a bit and getting various bits of paper ready we had some sort of fudged
visa application. Now we just have our fingers crossed and hope that it is enough to get our visas. Watch this space. We will let you know what happens.

We spent the rest of the day exploring London, from Soho to Camden town. We also spent a bit of time in the British Museum exploring the many rooms...
so much cool stuff. We topped an awesome night of with meeting up with Sabrina in Shepherds bush where we had Mexican food for Dinner. A great night was
had by all :)

Time keeps rolling on bye...

So after a complicated end of term juggle with events and our eventual return to the UK, my time here certainly has flown bye.

4 weeks of absolute chaos has ensued with work, visits and parties & weddings. But now it's time to return to China. Can't wait to see
what is in store for us, although I wait with baited breath as we move ever closer to the beginning of term and I start to ponder on what on earth
i'm going to teach! We will have to see :)
We will both keep you posted, but as for the next 10 days, its going to be a chance to say our final good buys, visit interviews, arrange visas and
board our plane bound for the middle Kingdom.

Watch this space!
