Zhangjiaijie day one

I arrived in the small town of zhang jia jie and lay down for a quick nap but soon found I wasn't as tired as I thought, but a good shower and a coffee would help!
The place I was staying was a big room, not filled by two double beds, and in one corner are two glass walls, inside of which is a hole style toilet and a shower.
I've been in china long enough now that a hole toilet isn't a problem but I've not had the shower over the toilet before, everything in the bathroom all drains onto the floor and then into the recessed toilet and away, easy to plum but not very convenient! The first problem is when showering you must be careful where you put your feet! You wouldn't want to step into anything unpleasant, and secondly because the sink just empties onto the floor and washes into the toilet your shoes and covered in water everytime you wash your hands, and finally to make maters worse the water makes everything really slippery!
the room was pretty basic and not super clean, or secure, I forgot to take the deadbolt off, opened the door and the deadbolt flew off across the room! But for £6 a night for a private room with two big beds it was at least cheap!

The shower was strong and hot, a blessing, and after a shower I felt much better and decided to venture out in search of coffee!
I jumped on a bus and found a Chinese coffee chain, I ordered an ice coffee as its pretty warm out here now, and a pumpkin soup. The coffee was amazing, but the soup was awful! I drank the coffee and got the hell out of there!
next I explored the town and ended up popping into the bus station and buying a ticket for tomorrow for fenghuang, a nearby ancient town.
When Chris and I were in Guangzhou a restaurant had a picture on their wall of this place and so we decided that we should find out where this place was and try our best to go there! A random reason for a visit but we need no better!
With that sorted and some pictures taken I went back to the hotel, nearby I found a little BBQ place by the side of the road and had some tasty cheap BBQ food before an early but much needed bed.
